Honestly, it looks like it is a four photo maximum before it starts sending script warnings, so we are now onto part three, don't forget to scroll down to see the other two parts....
I will push the friendship one more time and see if I can squeeze in another photo. Wish me luck and until next time when I will be back from Collectorama ( despite the gale force wind warnings, I am prepared to brave it), take care,Kiss noises Linda Lilly Cottage.
Take four!!! Four times it has taken me to try and do this post, it has wiped it out completely twice and then it tells me I need to upgrade my account to allow me to upload photos...which I have done so lets just see what happens this time.
This week Laura and I gave Lilly Cottage a French Chic makeover which is really just a simplified display well simplified for us...some of our devoted customers thought it looked too bare however, I think they just like the cluttered look for the thrill of the find....here are some photos if it works, see what you think.... Luggage and Lavender, I love old suitcases I have one at home that is so tattered and torn, that it is just perfect, I love it and I think the saying Beauty is in the eye of the beholderis so true here because my darling husband canNOT see the beauty in my darling little suitcase.
Mildred my new mannequin ( it isn't right to call her a dummy) looks very chic and cosy in a very fashionable scarf, one of the beautiful ones crocheted by Jan or knitted by Laura...I just embellish them!!
OK this will be part one of the post as it is doing strange things and I don't want to lose it again. start tuned for the installment in two minutes time, TTFN KN Linda Lilly Cottage.
Aaargghh Typepad and I seem to be having a disagreement, it is taking forever to load the photos and then it sends some script warning to me ....I must be doing something wrong, surely...Anyhoo, you have seen Leo's face before and you have all told me how unscary he is and I will have to admit that he really is gentle...how else would I get him to pose for this picture... he reminds me a bit of Clarence the cross eyed lion, remember him?
Joining the lovely Leo is Ellie the elephant whose headress must be massive!!! She is also very sparkly and these lovely three are all in Lilly and Billy and are quite big though these photos look small. They have just found a new home on the walls there so I shall show you next time. Gosh it is very hard to be entertaining when you have to think about what you are going to type for ages while these photos upload!! Here is one happy bear on a very windy Sunday.
Have a wonderful day, TTFN KN Linda Lilly Cottage!
Well it took a few more days than originally thought but now all the Circus members are in town and are at Lilly and Billy. First up iS Tina the tightrope walker, ready for her close up. Her dress is rather sparkly just as a tightrope walkers should be and of course you need bloomers as well!
Oh Dear, my first post with these new fangled changes, as I am not particularly skillful with this computer thingy, this could be a bit of a challenge but we will see how this turns out!! Unfortunately my brain now sees changes and all of a sudden doesn't't seem to be able to remember how to type or spell either...don't you hate that! Now seeing as I have just admitted my failings as a computer whiz you might wonder why we have such a beautiful blog banner all of a sudden....that would be because I didn't do it...neither did Laura I might add instead the amazingly talented and wonderful Gail from Shabby Cottage Studio did it for us!! Isn't it lovely? She was so wonderful to work with, we told her all of our favourite things and voila! If you want to go and visit her here are all her details, she also sells the most divine art work and great supplies...huge fan now..huge!! OK here is her list of contact, blog and shop places...
Now onto one of our favourite things....which would be collecting elements like those pictured in the said banner. This weekend is 'Collectorama' at Nambour, which is my most favourite collectors fair. I have scanned the flyer for you ( sorry it is in red..not my colour choice!)...now our plan is to be there with my little list of things we need need need and we sill stop and have our obligatory car park picnic around 11am so if you are around bring your coffee and drop by and say hello, we will probably be the only ones having a car park picnic but just in case, we have a white 4wd van and will have three children and one Mother in tow this time...shouldn't be too hard to spot....they take up valuable packing room in the car but they are also really helpful for carrying parcels and seeing all the good stuff down low ( that would be the kids not the mother) and well we love them....so we had better let them come play too!
Don't forget to pack your water bottle, bags to carry treasures in and lots of small notes (instead of big ones because there is no ATM there). I shall do another post before then ...oh did I tell you it was on Saturday... until then TTFN KN Linda Lilly Cottage.
It really won't do to keep chatting about "the new shop", Lilly Cottage might get jealous. Despite the fact I am itching to show some more of the new paintings, i really should share some Lilly Lovelies before we give the displays a makeover....hmmm we need a chandeleir and a tu-tu and an old bicycle with a basket...this is going to be fun!
Here are some of the pretties before the Mothers Day rush, you will be able to see some of the Lilly Ladies in residence amongst it all.
I won't chatter for a bit and let you look at the pictures...I really should have some music for you to listen to as well, must work on that, as always if something jumps out at you and must come to live at your house, just send us a quick message and if it is there and you want it it is yours...we can just send a paypal invoice or list on eBay...yes yes I know I will stop chattering......what about if I hum..... lallalllaaal hummm diddly hum...do wop diddy hummm humm...oh dear I feel like Pooh Bear...singing a little song.....
we haven't had a lot of stuff on eBay or Etsy at the momment, have you noticed? We have been a little busy but we shall try and rectify that this week...see I said try. We are also waiting on a fabulous new banner and I have some wonderful etsy and ebay finds to share with you.
Notice as a nod to the cooler weather that seems to have arrived with blustery winds on Sunday we have a darker section with those amazing reds and chocolate browns and blacks...it is so hard liking so many different styles. It is also wonderful but also hard doing so many different art medi ums....which one to do next, paint, sew, embroider, make labels??? We really are spoilt for choice... better go and start something while Desperate Housewives is on. Have a wonderful day, TTFN KN Linda Lilly Cottage.
The Owl and the Pussy Cat is my most favourite nonsense rhyme. I used to sing it to my eldest when she was a baby, over and over again until she went to sleep. It is such a lovely long poem/song that I never seemed to tire of it. Do you remember it?
Here are the words:
THe Owl and the Pussy Cat
by Edward Lear
The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea In a beautiful pea-green boat: They took some honey, and plenty of money Wrapped up in a five-pound note. The Owl looked up to the stars above, And sang to a small guitar, "0 lovely Pussy, 0 Pussy, my love, What a beautiful Pussy you are, You are, You are! What a beautiful Pussy you are!"
Pussy said to the Owl, "You elegant fowl, How charmingly sweet you sing! Oh! let us be married; too long we have tarried, But what shall we do for a ring?" They sailed away, for a year and a day, To the land where the bong-tree grows; And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood, With a ring at the end of his nose, His nose, His nose, With a ring at the end of his nose.
"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling Your ring?" Said the Piggy, "I will." So they took it away, and were married next day By the turkey who lives on the hill. They dined on mince and slices of quince, Which they ate with a runcible spoon; And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand, They danced by the light of the moon, The moon, The moon, They danced by the light of the moon.
No No don't go to sleep...wake up...sing with me.....anyhoo being on a children's painting kick which is really great fun for a change ( you do of course know I am painting pictures for children, not painting children...that is just wrong!). I created my own version of the Owl and the Pussycat, some of you have already guessed that is where the Pussy Cat was from yesterday..clever..
Here are some pictures to show you.
The sparkly waves are a little hard to pick up and the shiny bits show up much more than in real life but you get the idea.
It isn't very shabby or vintage but it is sparkly so I think it will go very well in the new shop. I have also been doing a circus collection in bright colours this week, no sewing this week but lots of painting! I shall be back with more pretties later , until then TTFN KN Linda Lilly Cottage.
Well we are dressed in our best outfits, clean nails and tidy hair and on our best behavior for Mothers Day. Lilly Cottage has also been cleaned and reorganized (yes I know that happens weekly but this is special) and is waiting to share it's treasures with all the lucky and lovely ladies who will be treated to a day out on Mothers Day.
Here are some roses for you and a few new ladies to meet.
We are also working on some new treasures, sneak peek at the end.
Hope your weekend is wonderful and your day is special, no matter how you spend it or where you are!
This lovely lady is ready for the cold weather ( if we ever get any), I love the way their faces just happen and they have their own personality . I haven't named her yet because sometimes I like other people to name them when they take them to live at their place. I love her hat and vintage button brooch!
This lovely lady with the flowing locks did however get the name Glenda because she 'looked' like a Glenda...
And the next well she doesn't have a name either as she i s too prim and proper to have any name!
In complete contrast this little lady is wild and carefree!!
I shall show you pictures of these lovely ladies in residence at Lilly Cottage early next week...they look so cute, these were the photos taken before the event!
A new pretty to hang and some cuffs in the making. Have a fabulous day, TTFN KN Linda Lilly Cottage.

Hi and thank you for visiting.
My name is Linda and I live on a sunny tropical island in Queensland Australia.
This blog used to be called Lilly Cottage and within its archives you will find many many posts about my gorgeous little cottage shop that was at Old Petrie Town.
I had a shop there with my friend Laura for over four years though had to close it due to my nasty MS.
Now I am sea changing, creating and loving life at a slightly slower pace ( I said slightly).
Enjoy my blog. Kiss Noises Linda
