The Owl and the Pussy Cat!
The Owl and the Pussy Cat is my most favourite nonsense rhyme. I used to sing it to my eldest when she was a baby, over and over again until she went to sleep. It is such a lovely long poem/song that I never seemed to tire of it. Do you remember it?
Here are the words:
THe Owl and the Pussy Cat
by Edward Lear
The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey, and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"0 lovely Pussy, 0 Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!"
Pussy said to the Owl, "You elegant fowl,
How charmingly sweet you sing!
Oh! let us be married; too long we have tarried,
But what shall we do for a ring?"
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the bong-tree grows;
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood,
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.
"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?" Said the Piggy, "I will."
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.
No No don't go to sleep...wake up...sing with me.....anyhoo being on a children's painting kick which is really great fun
for a change ( you do of course know I am painting pictures for children, not painting children...that is just wrong!). I created my own version of the Owl and the Pussycat, some of you have already guessed that is where the Pussy Cat was from yesterday..clever..
Here are some pictures to show you.
The sparkly waves are a little hard to pick up and the shiny bits show up much more than in real life but you get the idea.
It isn't very shabby or vintage but it is sparkly so I think it will go very well in the new shop. I have also been doing a circus collection in bright colours this week, no sewing this week but lots of painting! I shall be back with more pretties later
, until then TTFN KN Linda Lilly Cottage.
RAAAHHH!!!! ( did I scare you?)

Oh that is so cute.
