Hi Everyone,

Laura here this time.  I thought I'd show you some more moments at Lilly Cottage.  I say moments, because nothing seems to stay the same around here, we keep doing new displays and of course, getting/making new stock, which is a lot of fun.  It keeps us very busy.

Sunday kept us on our toes with the wind being so severe.  We had to constantly keep a check on our outside display at all times.  But I wouldn't swap it for a retail store in a shopping centre  for anything, wind and rain included (even the occasional bird dropping on our stock).  It's just so beautiful here.

Handmade goodies, we do have those too!!

Looking at our photos in the last two posts we have got a lot of things in that we didn't make, that we bought in to make it special.  When we first opened Lilly Cottage everything we had was hand made by ourselves and we wanted to create a place to  visit that was different from every where else and where there was lots to look at, that smelt wonderful and that you could spend hours in...a place we would like to visit.

Being the wonderful shoppers that we are we then brought in vintage treasures and little unique items that you could find a place for in an instant. Our handmade items were and still are our most popular items and in order to keep up with demand we bought in more goodies to compliment our work and to buy us some more time while we stitched, painted and beaded madly.  It is hard work stocking a shop full of handmade lovelies and we are often working well into the night filling orders and creating new goodies and we are looking pretty jolly at the moment, let me show you some.....

Of course Vintage is super special to us too, but the handmade in this photo are the darling little plum puddings ( Linda) and the soap bags (Laura).

 

Bear by Julie..she had the BEST supply of vintage doilies, chenille and lace and she makes lovely dresses for her bears.  Stitched verse cushion, Linda.

More pretty coathangers by Laura and Linda.  This spectacular doll was made by Penny,  the roses cushion  by Linda, the lovely blue bag hanging down by Laura.  Note here we didn't make this lovely rose round pillow we bought it in and get this it costs $16.00 for the cushion and the insert, we couldn't buy the fabric for that!!

From the comfort of your chair, some Lilly Cottage pretties.

Feeling a more than a tad wobbly I managed to join Laura at Lilly Cottage on Friday and for part of the Friday night markets.  The weather is warming up nicely ( actually that is such a contraindication, the words warming up and nicely should never be in the same sentence), and the air conditioner is humming along very well. 

I did manage to get some fantaabulous shots of Laura's display and some new goodies we have in store which amused us highly ( well that really is a completely different story), I do have great hopes of the lovely Laura finding her Prince...go and see my quest as such at Kiss Noises ).

 

A little Marie corner was joined by a very handsome birdy indeed..he must be a he despite being so lovely and sparkly, a girl would be white or pink don't you think? 

 

Ready for a close up...so sweet..

 

He opens up to be a little box of sorts..and he is the only one we got so Laura and I have been trying not to fight over him which was easy because there was more to come.

Mannequins and Mice..a perfect combination...oh and a spectacular starfish..

 

I have planned to do a special tag for these mice which will read...'not a creature was stirring'...but I am going to have to check that spelling, it just doesn't look right.

Christmas has snuck into Lilly Cottage.

Actually it didn't really sneak, it arrived one Friday  in the shape of 17 boxes, big and small which had to be opened and put on display then and there as we had no where to store the contents of the boxes in our storeroom/tearoom/work areawalkway to back door.

Laura and I had been working madly on our handmade items before then but boy we will have to work even harder now to keep our little Christmas corners filled with goodies.  I don't know where all that stock went to but I do know it took us roughly 8 hours to get the basic displays up...of course we will be re-arrranging and changing them everyday for the next 6 weeks or so...it is just something we have to do, like drink coffee and eat Lindt chocolate oh and breathe!!

I have been a bit slack this week after the Christmas project Hot Glue Incident and haven't been able to get nearly as much done as one would have liked but Laura is on fire, embroidering name cushions like a mad woman...show you some of them later but I am sure you are keen to see some pictures of our display right?  Alright then here we go..just let me save this first before Typepad and I begin our usual dance of writing losing, rewriting, saving a bit, losing another bit and then starting all over again.. 

OK here we go..

 

I love love love these girls and the Flamingo...it is a Shining Star one from Russ and when you buy it ( or recieve one) you get a special code and the web address to find and name your very own star...how cool is that??? We have a little golden bear one as well and I think there is a Koala and a Penguin coming soon as well.

Wow I got to 12 photos before I had my first typepad freezing computer issue, but i will not be deterred, here are a few more photos...hehehehehe

 

 

Well I suppose that is our official Christmas Launch though we do hope to have two or more little events and gatherings at Lilly Cottage before the end of the year, one in particular for our blog friends, if you live around our area or are prepared to drive a little to come and play one morning for a blogging breakfast at Lilly Cottage..the real one, and you have a blog or read this blog, leave us a comment on this post so we can reply back to you with the details...go on it will be fun to meet new people!
