Last week Fabric, this week paint!

Last week I was imersed in fabric and lace and vintage images, this week as I sort of wind down I have found my painting groove again. I love to play with all mediums but this painting style is my first love, lots of colour, big canvases, mixed media with a certain shimmer....here is a little look, they are heading out to Lilly Cottage soon... The Butterly is huge so I shall have to make a spot for it.

Back from our road trip.

Now before you have visions of Laura and I driving off into the sunset ala Thelma and Louise style, it wasn't that kind of road trip...this time.... This time 'Lilly Cottage' went on the road to join The Handmade Expo Girls at their first event for this year at the Australia Day celebrations at the Jondaryan Wool Shed.....yes wool shed, in the country with the sheep..lots of sheep and the flies...lots and lots of flies....and the heat....lots and lots and lots of heat! I had convinced Laura not to do the 6 hour round trip drive on her own and boy are we both glad I did.....the heat would have made her sooo tired after all that travel and an 8 hour day.... I would have been really worried about her driving on her own and she is glad because she didn't have to experience the heat ( and I have to say it sorry but it didn't smell all that sweet...something to do with nervous sheep being having a haircut during the sheep shearing demonstrations...I told you we were in the country...really really in the country).

We didn't sell a great deal I don't think the sheep shearing community were ready for the pretty girly things we sell, but we did have a good day and the Handmade Expo girls did an amazing job and were so bouncy and organised and bubbly and professional during the entire  hot and muggy day from very early morning to late afternoon....well done girls.

The good news for everyone else is....all but 2 things in the next lot of photos is still available!!! AND you didn't have to go out in the heat to get it.  I will be listing quite a lot of these items in our ebay, etsy and Lindas Lollishop during the week but if you see anything you like...send us an email!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I hope you see something you liked......I know I did...that is why I took so many photos.

This was our first expo and the wonderful Trish from Trishalan Designs  is an old pro....well not really an old pro. that would be wrong so wrong....she is however a regular is that better being regular, than an old pro?....She had done many an expo...yes that is better and although she wasn't a huge fan of the sheep either you couldn't tell...she was chatting all day about her gorgeous hand dyed threads and fabrics, lots of people interested in her work which is completely the opposite colour range to ours but we still manage to find lots of threads, ribbons and fabrics to tempt us...just look at the brooch on this bag Trish made it for me when I couldn't find anything to match and it is made out of hand dyed silk...gorgeous...

See now you didn't miss a thing...except maybe the heat and the flies and a the wee little sheep ( now you know that is supposed to be the other way round but I am too much of a lady to write it the other way).

What a great photo!

As we approach Australia Day on the 26th January and we celebrate our wonderful country by all reports it has been a proud and remarkable time in America.  As it really affects the whole world we have had a lot of coverage here of the ceremony all over the media.  This has to be the best photo and caption that I have seen.  It was on the front page of our main newspaper 'The  Courier Mail" and despite the fact it is a bit wonky in this picture, don't you agree it is such a moving picture/caption in one, or is it just me?? Yeah, many thanks to everyone who entered it was lovely to hear all the sign offs....big fat aunty kisses sticks in my head though.

The Handmade Expo is on Australia Day ( next Monday the 26th) and both Laura and I have been sewing like crazy and have some new creations that will be making their debut there.  If you can come and visit us please do....we will be at the Jondaryan Wool Shed.  If you can not make it then we will be renovating our Ebay shop and giving it a makeover too and anything not sold on Monday will be heading into the Ebay store.....

Finding our feet after kicking up our heels!!

Into the second week of the new year and I am slowly finding my feet for this year.  We have lots of things planned for this year already and as usual we will see what direction our art takes us and the styles we will create this year. The Handmade Expo at Jondarayan Woolshed on Australia Day is our first outing and we would love to see you there and we are still deciding on exactly what we should take with us.  We have re-arranged and tidied up a little in anticipation of a fresh start for the 2009 and I have not taken any pictures any time I have been there in the last week....arrggh, but it will be worth it when I do.

In the meantime here are some little sketches I am working on for a stitching project I have planned, some new girls I just received from Penny, a wish cushion and some fabric I am playing with for a Vintage Valentine swap and book...soo many things so little time.

Happy New Year, quotes and Daffodils!

Happy New Year everyone, i tried to do this post last night but it didn't really work out as the words were too big for the lines so sorry if you got that version on your readers. 

My lovely friend Lynda with a y sent me this lovely email about daffodils and working at your dreams bit by bit and starting today is not too late, it wouldn't publish to show you but the important parts were this:

Happiness is journey not a destination.

and

Don't be afraid your life will end, be afraid it will never begin.

So with those words in my head I shall make this a wonderful new year, 2009 will be wonderful!!

Also keep up those suggestions for that last post, they are really really helpful.

Now here is a photo of the two Mothers who make running Lilly Cottage possible, they sew, they clean, they open up and run the shop, they make coffee ( even though we ask them not too!), they make tasty treats for us and they are always there AND they are going to kill me for putting up this photo.
