Saturday was my first Bowerbird Workshop at Lilly Cottage and I had started to think that maybe 7 hours was going to be a little long. Boy was I wrong! Those ladies were in for the long haul and having the best time creating. They didn't even seem to mind my interesting way of making up new ideas as we were going along...in fact I think that is why they were having so much fun, they had never been to a 'class' like that.
First though this image is one of the ones I found when looking for bird images for the workshop. This gorgeous dove is soo sweet and one of hundreds of images available from Graphics Fairy. Graphics Fairy is an Angel Company which means you can use up to four images on any of your projects for pleasure or resale for free and for nothing!!!!! They only ask you pay credit back to them....so credit where credit is due...go and visit The Graphics Fairy and make sure you take a cuppa with you!.
We did use one of these beautiful images to make some tags as well as a some other tags using different techiniques....here is a little look see.
Gorgeouss tags though were not the only thing on our creative to do list however and soon the serious business of nest making was in progress. Part of the process of our little ( in some cases...BIG) nests was to wait for them to dry. I so love these photos and don't think I looked at all strange taking so many photos of a pile of string with a glass paperweight on it.
Once dry, it is into the fun stuff.....and one needs a lot of stuff...
And coffee, coffee and stuff.
Add some more coffee and tada!! Nests start to appear. Perhaps you can tell a lot about a person and their nest...some where neat and organised and some were arty and nesty and quite a few were blue...they were really channelling their inner Bowerbird.
When my husband saw the above photo he went 'Oh dear, that is a bit over the top, someone got carried away'. Yes you guessed it, it was mine....really...in my defence this one isn't a nest, it is a spectacular egg and this is a bad photo of the top of it, lets see if there is a better one.
Yes a little better from this angle. I didn't get to take anywhere near as many photos as I wanted and seeing as I promised the ladies I wouldn't show their faces, I can't use some of the really good ones I have...but you get the idea...we had fun and I likenend it on several occasions to playgroup for Grown ups.....it is good to play and create something just for the sake of creating! There should be more of it!! Oh of course there is...there is another Bowerbird workshop on Wednesday the 8th April if anyone is interested there are a couple of places left, just send me an email.
Hope you had a creative weekend, speak to you soon,
ttfn, Kiss Noises Linda
