Welcome to our Mad (Hatter's) Tea Party at Lilly Cottage.

Come in, come in, it is so lovely to see you.  We were hoping that you would drop in and join our little party.  Now don't be shy, I will introduce to people as we go along and of course will explain everything to you.  You have missed the rose painting, when we had to paint the white roses red, that was the other day and thankfully it satisfied the Queen of Hearts ( you can see the work in progress a post or so ago).

 

 

Oh look here is that grinning Cheshire cat, I had heard he was around telling everyone some odd directions and telling them we were all mad here....he might be right but don't let that unnerve you, being mad is all the rage at the moment.

 

As you can see the table is almost set but we appear to have a bit of a problem.  During an unattended moment when we were setting up it appears our tea cups and saucers have flown out into the 'garden' behind and before we can begin our Tea Party we must find a matching cup and saucer and then find the White Rabbit ( of which I have seen more than one of today) to collect and egg and spoon...odd I know but a lot of fun...lets begin.

 

Oh right, this is the White Rabbit we have to find, should have known that Cheshire Cat would be around all the mischief too, oh and we must hurry...can't be late...

 

Looking, looking, lots of looking...

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oh look in the bush, could it be...yes I do believe it is a match!

 

Right we have our matching cup and saucer ( and no wild animals attacked us, I was a bit concerned around that log when we grabbed our cup). On to find the White Rabbit, I think if we just follow the crowd we will be alright.

 

Oh look here is Rosey, I shall introduce you in a minute...oh I don't think these ladies are carrying their tea cups and their egg and spoon in the correct manner....

 

aah but these girls have the idea, with their own supervisor little K. Aunty Paul is so clever she has her eyes shut too! Wow!

Now we must go carefully as I have heard that our eggs are very precious and if dropped we shall be..oooh oh oh..oh dear Miss K seems to have been unbalanced by some mischief...

 

Now we have everything, lets meet a few of the others.

 

Here is the lovely Miss K with her gorgeous Mother Val and wouldn't you know it it is Vals birthday today ( she won't tell us how old she is though), what a bonus, a birthday to celebrate as well.

 

This is the gorgeous Rosey who wears many hats and has two blogs i can't sew which is also what she calls herself...hmm not sure about that..and her home blog is Agapanthus and Goldsworthy . She is such a star, look what she made for us to share...oh and here are two of her gorgeous daughters as well.

 

Roseys Riboon sandwiches...what fun she had making these..

 

Are these not the sweetest little treats you ever did see? Rosey and her girls made these too, how utterly gorgeous!

 

 

They even brought some pink feathered friends with them, we won't use them as croquet sticks, they can just hang around here.

 

We will have to have a look at the tea table to see what there is whilst we meet the others...some are a little shy, but oh so friendly.

 

 

 

 

Please don't mind the mice, they seem to have invaded the tea party but they are very sweet really and we have lots of teapots!.

  

 

Oh and another White Rabbit wearing a heart I do believe was made by the gifted Lucy Bloom , not sure if that was how she intended it to be used but you know how White Rabbits are.

 

More mice, make sure you have something to eat or drink as we move along, it is a very long table and a huge party, so you may be in need of refreshment by now.

 

 

 

Perhaps you would like to have a game of cards, they rather on the large size though, so maybe a game of snap rather than poker.

 

Oh just be careful when choosing a cake..somethings are not what them seem around here.

 

Have a seat you must be getting tired...I am sure there is a spare chair here...

 

Now I shall pour you a cup of tea from my favourite teapot.  Stay and chat for as long as you long as you like.  Before you go though I would love to know where you are from so please leave a little comment, my visitors book for today, just let me know where you live ,...well not exactly just the country or suburb.

Painting the White Roses Red, Mad Hatters Tea Party Style.

I am really going in for those big long titles, I just have so much to say!

As mentioned in the last Tea Party Post during our preparation we were told that there should be no white roses, The Queen of Hearts declared that they should all be painted red!

What was I to do? In the middle of all this work, now I have to paint the white roses red.  There was nothing for it but to enlist the help of some Tea Party Painters, of course there were not expecting to be called upon so quickly but they were a happy bunch of painters, see for yourself....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They even brought in a specialist painter to get to those low roses. What a team!

 

 

 

 

Oh I do hope they get it done in time for Saturday so we can join in this..

  

We of course added Hatters to our party...it gets people in the right mood when they have to dress up don't you find?

Anyhoo the above soiree is being organised by Vanessa..from A Fanciful Twist so you know it will be fun.

Right better check on those rose painters, they need to be all red very soon, they do need a bit of supervision, look what happened when I wasn't there to oversee the painting, that specialist painter got ideas of her own... 

 

Got to love that creative streak...

Off to find some teapots, we need some of those for tea...oh and I have my eye out for White Rabbits and Cheshire Cats too!

We interupt this programme with an important message.

Wow how is that for a title, short and sweet not!  Anyhoo I am interupting our tea party preparations to let you know I well Lilly Cottage will be at The Handmade Expo this coming Saturday the 27th ( busy day that one) at Ipswich Show Grounds.  

It will be a day with a huge pavillion of handmade lovelies, plus a coffee van and a sausage sizzle ( not a huge fan of sausages but the coffee van is my idea of wonderful, be nice if it was right next to me).

Go and visit the girls of The Handmade Expo's BLOG to find out the times and the address of this grand event and to see what else they have planned this year, we are going to Warwick in July, that should be wonderful, a good way to spend my birthday.

If you are coming to the Expo, please pop in and say hello, you do know I love a chat. I am sure you will recognise our little stall of birdies and sweet stuff!

I am sure I had something else to tell you, I will pop back if I remember.

Tea Party decorating....we are still getting ready..

So the tents are up, next step is to do a little decorating...what might we need in our  tea tent for decoration? Lets see...

 

A bike that doesn't go is surely needed for a Mad Hatter's Tea Party.

 

Some birdies and some bunting...oh we need lots of those..

 

What about a pink feather boa....of course!

 

 

 

Oh Yes Chandeliers, we need at least two of those.

 

 

 

Great Big wonderful flowers above our heads, we need those!

 

What about some over sized playing cards, in fabric no less, I just whipped a couple of those up too.

 

More bunting...lots more to organise, some pretty china, teapots and other stuff...oh and apparently that nasty old Queen of Hearts wants all those white roses painted RED!!

We're getting ready...

It is very chilly and quiet early in the morning but the Lilly Cottage family are up and raring to go.  We have a big Mad Hatters Tea Party to be ready for on the 27th June as hosted by the lovely Vanessa at a Fanciful Twist .

She is hosting a wonderful online party where we will be able to flit from blog to blog to see everybodies Mad Hatters  Tea Party.  You can also host your own and add your name to the list on her blog and people can pop by to visit you too! It is a lot of fun!

We need to do a lot of preparation for this wonderful event but first things first we need to set up the Tea Party Tents....

First you need to put the huge amount of stuff we need into the caravan and park it outside Lilly Cottage to unload.

 

Good help can sometimes be hard to find...not here, the best little helpers around.

 

All sorts of boring stuff is required to make the Tea Party Tent.

 

OK team get the tents into position.

 

 

Tables, yes we shall need some tables or where would we put our tea?

 

Geting those tables right whilst the youngest member of the team gets distracted at the end...it was probably a butterfly or a leaf that grabbed her attention...she is a bit like that ( and isn't it wonderful to be in your own little world sometimes?)

 

Oh tablecloths and some chairs, time to decorate and wait for the sun to come over a bit more, looks a little dark and gloomy.

 

More tables, a secret, those signs and some milk bottles with roses...whatever is this going to look like when it is finished, or perhaps this is finished?

We're all Mad here...

I think I may in fact be turning those who weren't already mad, mad with my preparations for tomorrows tea party ( which is next week in virtual tea party land with the lovely Miss Vanessa from A fanciful Twist).

Today I have lots of running around and polishing off to do and as I am unable todrive at the moment, I just do the driving of people mad!

We have beautiful weather here in Brisbane at the moment, nice and cool (yay) and sunny, fingers crossed it will hang out over the weekend, I figured with all the brides praying for a beautiful day on Saturday I have the best chance of it being a beautiful day.

Usually I would show pictures of my work in progress and sneak peeks on my home blog  Kiss Noises but I am so excited I though I would show you some little pictures here......

 

 

 

 Be back as soon as I can with more details and pretty pics...must dash, lots to do and I don't want to be late like the white rabbit.

Sunlight through my window makes me happy!

Actually all sorts of soft sunlight makes me happy, not really fond of that harsh burn off  two layers of skin in twenty seconds kind of sunlight, though apparently Vitamin D is a new research breakthrough in the search for a cure for MS....see sunlight is good for me, yes yes I know fish is too but really truly I don't like it much and it definitely doesn't make me happy like gentle warming sunlight....aaahhh!

I also love the way the sunlight comes through the window and makes all the treasures sparkle and how it dapples through the trees in the afternoon.  I like that word dapple don't you? It is so...descriptive...I also like the word dabble...pretty similar...and I love the italian word for five which I can say but there is no way I know how to spell it off the top of my head. I could go and look it up and I would but....I don't want to.

Back to the sunlight, obviously I need to get outside in it a bit more... I thought you might like to see some of these pretties sitting in the sunlight.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

    So ther you have it, you dose of Vitamin D for the day.  Just in case you were wondering, yes I do write exactly as I talk.....but most of you already knew that!
