in my neighbourhoooodd...sing along if you know that smash hit from Sesame Street, surely you know it and it is not just in my little world. Anyhoo I have just realised that I have not updated my sidebar for such a long time, and I do plan to do it soon but in the meantime I thought you might like to meet some of the talented folk that live and work and blog around me, they are quite a wonderful crowd.

First of all there is the lovley Laura, who no longer comes to play at Lilly Cottage but can be found at the North Lake Farmers and artists market on Sundays and has her own blog up and running with links to her Etsy and Ebay shops.... here is her little link. Billy Angel Designs

Miss Rosey who has three delightful daughters who love visiting Lilly Cottage as much as their mother, has created some beautiful little brooches for me and has been a wonderful assistant at Lilly Cottage when we have been in need....she doesn't even call it work which is lucky cause we don't pay her either! hehe Now she is a constant Twitterer with me but she also has two blogs to visit Agapanthus and Goldsworthy and i cant sew creations she goes by the name icantsew which is not at all true! Rosey blames me for her blogging addiction and I tell her I take all of the credit but none of the blame.
These were Roseys little brooches do you remember them? They were happily living in Lilly Cottage and have gone on to find new homes now.
Another talented lady with some of her creations living at Lilly Cottage for a while and the creator of those gorgeous elephants is Pam and you can visit her on her blog Cloth to Creation and she is on the latest issue of Homespun as well with her Bacon and Eggs pattern...

Now I have mentioned The Handmade Expo girls before and they organise these wonderful events all over South East Queensland especially for Hand made and hand crafted items. I try to attend as many as possible and they have a list of the upcoming events on their side bar if you would like to know more. This is what those gorgeous girls look like ( when they were dressed up in their fabulous new hats for Warwick Jumpers and Jazz) ( I also borrowed this photo from their blog).

Liesa at her beautiful shop blog Handmade Heaven and her lovely twin sister Micky over on her blog Handmadies . They are three very talented and very busy ladies. They are also so enthusiastic and bubbly you can't help but feel good around them.
Another staunch supporter of The Handmade Expo and just a literal hop skip and jump across the path from Lilly Cottage is the super efficient and super energetic Trish from TrishAlan Designs
Trish has gorgeous hand dyed and hand printed fabrics and threads that I have used in a number of my creations. i even took a little collection of her lovely fabrics with me to Warwick.
Pretty ! Speaking of Warwick as I have done all this week...my neighbours at Warwick were the lovely Lisa from Cute as Buttons with her seriously cute kids wear, cupcakes and airplanes...so sweet.

Seriously so cute and obviously just my sort of style because I kept heading back to their booth instead of mine ( which was right next door).
Directly behind us were another two gorgeous girls with equally wonderful kids clothes ( oh why are my children so BIG now?). They also made those lovely hats The Handmade Expo girls were wearing, they are Cassie and Rachael from MIN NAH KIDS and they have some lovely cute things and these lovely hats that look like tea cosies ( only joking it was a had to be there moment). Here are some pinched photos from them and it looks like the pinched photos of the Handmade girls was from their site originally.
These girls hail from Toowoomba as does Miriam and my good teddy bear friend...Kris from Tag Along Teddies whois completely addicted to bears and has created the most wonderful fun bears, dolls, stitcheries and now quilts...a very busy and talented lady also, go visit I can't really steal any of her pictures they wouldn't make a lot of sense...maybe if I go back into her archives... oh here you go here is a sneak peek from one of her quilts...so lovely...
Last but not least the Michelle from Vintage Visions makes gorgeous vintage inspired jewellery using new and repurposed supplies, her jewellery is unique and fun....so fun that we have a range of her jewells at Lilly Cottage. I have 'borrowed' this photo from her blog and it is from her display at Handmade Heaven....such a small world.

Yes we are back from Warwick. Today ( Sunday) Lilly Cottage has been left in the capable hands of Grandma J ( my mum) and the bubbly Rosey (Miss icantsew herself ) so I am sure they will have a fun day.
Meanwhile DH and I have spent the day catching up on lost sleep as we left home at 3.30am Saturday morning to drive to Warwick. Somewhere in our heads it was going to take us 4 hours to get there, yet it took only 2 1/2 hours, so we arrived in very chilly Warwick at 6.00am. Of course we did what any normal human being would do and headed to the warmest place we could find that open at that hour...yep you guessed it... Mcdonalds! Lucky for us the have a 24 hour McDonalds there, it was warm, the news was on the big screen and they had coffee ( yes alright Trish I know you wouldn't drink it but it was OK). So it is 6am in a town quite a way from home and I walk into McDonalds and can hear my name being called out excitedly from the Drive-thru Window, It was no other than the girls from The Handmade Expo themselves, the super exhuberant and gorgeous Liesa and Micky! EDIT EDIT***** THE MARVELLOUS MIRIAM EQUALLY AS GORGEOUS WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AS WELL! Of all places! They were also grabbing their coffee before they went to the venue to mark out the stall spots, so of course we had a quick chat through the window while the staff from McDonalds mucked up their coffee order twice! It wasn't our fault for chatting, I just don't think they were quite used to such crowds at that time of the morning ( 4 people does make a crowd you know). As darling husband pointed out, coffee seems to have slowed fast food down!
Of course the whole point of driving to Warwick was to attend The Handmade Expo as part of the Warwick Jumpers and Jazz festival. Jumpers were required indeed and coats and gloves and scarves as it was very chilly.
This was on the way there..check out the cute little snowflake icon on the dash, that was just in case we missed that it was cold.
This was the temperature that it stayed for the entire time we were setting up inside the complex. It was sooo cold, I couldn't feel my fingers or toes as the inside of the building wasn't heated in any way, except for the bathrooms...oh my goodness they were lovely and warm, i was so tempted to stay there until I defrosted but I didn't I had settin up to do. I wanted to have a different display this time with some new items, things you hadn't seen before..maybe, have a look see what you think.
As I seem to be having a disagreement with Typepad again, I shall be back later with some more of the market goodies, until then,

Yes it did look lovely and fresh tucked in beside the china. We have had the ladder for a little while and it has been in and out of Lilly Cottage and last week I rearranged a whole heap of things and tucked the ladder in beside the vintage and new china.
Lucky I took lots of photos as it and several other things from display sold on Sunday. I thought I would show you anyway. I think I may be on the hunt for another ladder or something else exciting and different.
I love the effect in this photo. The sun was streaming through the window and I had to adjust the exposure in my Windows picture editor thingy....who knew?
If I don't tell you you won't notice the dead fly in this picture...oh doh!
I shall go and make plans for some new displays...wonder what I can do...stay tuned.

July is my favourite month, it is my birthday month, the weather is cooler and there are so many things happening in July, like Medieval fairs and winter fetes and the oh so exciting Christmas in July events! I have also surpassed 300 posts a couple of posts ago and I really think that is more than enough reasons for a giveaway or 5....yes I shall have five giveaways from now until the end of the month and all you need to do is leave a comment on each giveaway post.
This will be the first giveaway post and the item I am giving away is in one of these pictures, you can guess if you like, I will reveal the item and the winner in the next giveaway post.
This week is a flurry of activity once again...I seem to do lots of flurrying and activitying don't I?
Anyhoo on Saturday the 18th, DH and I are driving down to Warwick ( I think it is down, maybe out to Warwick is better I 'm not sure, a bit geographically challenged I am) to attend The Handmade Expo as part of the Warwick Jumpers and Jazz festival. It is going to be very chilly and I am very excited...but before then I have lots of stock to make.
I had rearranged the shop on Thursday and obviously it was lovely because on Sunday lots of my displays sold...any suggestions on what sort of display you think I should do?
Off to sew some more and probably Twitter an awful lot when I should be sewing. I have a whole bundle of 'new to me' vintage doileys and I have a plan but first I have to wash and iron them...but that isn't like normal ironing it is pretty ironing! Big difference!

No I haven't moved out and been replaced by some alternative new owners, rather we have some new 'visitors' to Lilly Cottage and I thought you might lke to say hello.
They are visitors as they come to us from the the talented Julie and the talented Pam and they are likely to be swooped up soon and taken to a new home by a visitor to Lilly Cottage. Lovely Mr Ele Fant used to live with them too, before he came to live at my place.
I have been having fun with the Picasa FREE online photo editing tool but I just can't work out how to get a photo onto the blog from there but I shall...some day in the near future...I know I shall!

She is a bear but I am thinking she would make a lovely Kangaroo, just add tail, sorry Pam but she would. Wheat bags wheat bags wheat bags..need lots of them in this weather. ( she is sitting next to them)
Suitcases, now a lovely lady asked me about suitcases and I am still trying to find your email address, so could you email me again if you are still looking for suitcases?

Oh I think I just worked out how to make a copy from Picasa...um hit make a copy! Really, I do worry about myself sometimes!

Forget fine bone china and vintage roses, this week I am in love with this completely 'gaudy' but wonderful teapot! It arrived after the Mad Hatters Tea Party ( how typical) but I think it is adding a little fun to this weeks tea party displays.
If you fall in love with this tea pot let me know, from memory they are only $34 so sweet!
