Wordless Wednesday

Just a little pink patchwork corner.

I love it when you arrange a nice little corner and all you want to do is creep in there with your book and a cup of tea. This corner has all of my favourite things, soft patchwork colours, pictures of roses and pretty tea cups.

Would you care to join me? I can pull up another chair but you must bring a book to read.

The only thing is I can't seem to find a good book to read.  Please please tell me what you are reading...or what is your most beloved book ever? I need to make a list and would love to know.

The calm before the Christmas Storm.

Whilst others are gearing up  for the Halloween section of the year, my focus is Christmas.  Halloween isn't really big in Australia, especially not in our little corner of the world, which is good as I can direct all my energies to Christmas. It might only be September but things are starting to move around Lilly Cottage in preparation for the Sparkly Season.

I did attempt a little rearrange last week but I couldn't move any big furniture and as I was only visiting not 'working' it was a bit hard to convince others they must move things for me....will have to wait for DH to come out and shift stuff.

I did have some success though and there are some fresh and calm new corners...here have a little sneaky peek...

Peter Rabbit hopping around Lilly Cottage...not your average rabbit!

This gorgeous Peter Rabbit lives at Lilly Cottage ( whilst awaiting a new home...he is up for adoption). He usually sits up high and overseas all the comings and goings at Lilly Cottage but this week he got fed up and hopped down and  explored the cottage garden.

Hop hop hoppity hop..

Luckily he has his own carrot so the garden was safe ( not that we grow carrots at Lilly Cottage but we have the occasional tomato plant that pops up now and again and then of course there is the big chilli bush that thrives under the air conditioner in the summer).

It is a little disconcerting having such a huge rabbit hopping around but look at that face, he is so easy to adore and not at all frightening. If any one would like to adopt this rabbit I will be listing him in THE COTTAGE SHOP later in the week but I can give you the price and measurements if you email me.

He has popped back onto the shelf for now but I have a feeling that a lot happens in Lilly Cottage at night time.

Oh Dang and Blast!

That's not real swearing is it? I am just a little Ok a little bit more peeved....I used all more powers of persuasion to be allowed back on the shop floor of Lilly Cottage on Sunday ( my goodness they needed me there, so much to arrange and rearrange and stuff...and yes Mother did do a good job but it wasn't MY displays if you know what I mean).  Anyhoo I did manage wonderfully with the help of Mother and my eldest daughter ( who I am calling my apprentice but fear she may get bored or sick of being nagged by me before she graduates...they think Donald Trump is hard on his apprentices, they have not seen me in action) for about 5 hours which was great and it was busy and fun and apparently has not been so for weeks...so they say...but as soon as the rush died down so did I and had to call on the assistance of DH to collect moi and return me to  The Lilly Cottage Control Centre ( home).....and I have been a bit shall we say bleah ever since....I blame it on school holidays but DH is not believing that entirely for a minute but I know you girls will understand.

I did take photos though ( another weeks worth I hope)...here is one...

The real reason I am so Dang and Blast is that  The Handmade Expo is on this weekend, on Saturday at the Ipswich Turf club and I can't go...well DH is not letting me go after my Sunday jaunt...so I shall miss another.....aargghh. So please if you can pop out there and visit as it sounds like there are some wonderful new stalls....all Handmade or fresh produce.....aarrgghhh again....

Blue skies and birdies at Lilly Cottage.

I did manage to get out to Lilly Cottage on Sunday ( more on that later but I am paying for it now).  It was a beautiful day but also very very warm.

Sometimes it is nice to look up for a change..

Spring colours!

How gorgeous are these lovely new throws and cushion covers? They are in the most cheerful pinks and turquoise and are a new range from Linens and Things. The colours just pop and you can't help but think happy thoughts looking at them.

I am thinking that I need one of these to throw over my lounge suite for a new Spring lift...forget spring cleaning, I am just going to throw a rug over it and call it Spring decorating....I think it may catch on.

Oh so pretty.... ha I just saw something on that last photo that isn't supposed to be there...oh well!

The perfect spot for a chair.

I am not sure about you but I have a thing for placing furniture in 'unusual' places.  For instance I have a lounge chair ( sofa) outside in my entertainment area and a dressing table in my studio.  I have a church pew outside and a tiny outdoor bench inside.

I have cane lounge chairs and single seats outside in the garden, old teapots filled with flowers and big ornate bird cages inside and out....it is fun...call me quirky but I think it puts my mark on things...my style. I have a chandelier outside covered in fairy lights and bunting around the outside, we are ready for a party any day of the week.

One of the best things about Lilly Cottage is setting up the outside displays every day....we do take them inside at the end of the day though. I love to hang birdcages outside there too and put old chairs in the garden beds, it is a great place to play.

This little display looked so cute...for about an hour until the chair and one of the baskets sold.....at least I got a photo....and a chance to create another display.

Where would you go to?

If  you could ride away on a pretty bicycle, where would you ride to?

I would love to ride down a tree lined country lane way. I don't think it would be in  Queensland Australia though, a bit too hot and dusty for my imaginings, perhaps an English country laneway on the way to a lovely picnic beside a bubbling brook. I would have a proper cane picnic basket and red and white spotted napkins and a lovely book to read.

Not entirely sure what kind of food I would have...perhaps crusty bread and some camenbert cheese, oh and some lovely red, grown in the sunshine strawberries....aaahh

Sunshine and some frilly knickers.

Quite a while ago when we ordered from one of our favourite suppliers, I fell in love with these lovely frilly knickers or boxer shorts. It had been too cold to display them properly but now we are back into warm and sometimes quite hot days, it is time to put our knickers out in the sun. Eventually they will be on the washing line but we will have to watch out for snowdroppers!....

 

Seeing as the weather was so nice, other pretties were dragged out to the front of Lilly Cottage as well as some more knickers.

 

 

 Sunshiny days really do make a girl happy!
